ALEXANDER III OF MACEDON DIES IN BABYLON

Newsflash--hold the Front Papyrus! Ignoring slanderous reports that Alexander died in Brooklyn of Saturday Night Fever, this newsletter reports the sad death of our heroic young king/emperor/god while attending to crucial matters of state for The Empire. Scorning rumors that the potent young monarch died in the throes of perverted sexual excess, this Senior Bodyguard wishes to pay tribute to the Conqueror of the Entire Known World. He was, let us remark, a great man. And if we had not gotten homesick, he would have captured India as too! So there. Let the naysayers and the jealous beware, for we Bodyguards and Companions will brook no disrespect to his memory.

FUNERAL GAMES TO BE HELD

It has been agreed by The Council that the most magnificent funeral games will be held for Our Revered Leader, the youngest and greatest ruler to ever conquer the entire world. While many others dreamt, he accomplished it! Let his praises be heard from Macedon to Kafiristan. Huzzah!!!

The cortege containing the royal remains will be taken with all pomp and pagentry to its final resting place in Macedonia. All Bodyguards and Companions are invited to attend upon the funeral procession. Hail Alexander THE GREATEST!!!!!

CRITICAL RULES CHANGE

The Ptolemaic Forces Formerly Known As Pink will henceforth and forever be known throughout The Empire as Light Red. Failure to remember this will result in Instant Court Martial or Declaration of War. That is all... (So speaks the God Zeus)

AMITY AND CONCORD TO PREVAIL THROUGHOUT THE EMPIRE

It would appear that our late leader left no specific will regarding his succession. With so many excellent statesmen and generals having stepped forward to help enlarge and nourish The Empire, it might for a second appear that some would come to blows over the right to rule the land! May the gods spare us from Civil War and strife, now that we Greeks and Allies are supreme in the world!

This individual, head of the oldest political sovereignty in the world, stretches out his hand and embraces you all in brotherhood and faithfulness. Let there be peace and accord always, in this land which Alexander left for us as his legacy. Let each man cultivate his own garden, free from worry about his neighbor. Should conflicts arise, let us reconcile them in the spirit of greatness and loyalty to the idea of The One Empire.

Surely The Gods will guide us in choosing someone to rule supreme. In the meantime, let the Funeral Games begin!
