AAR 2
From: Cadet Tara Munley
In the Air Assault on Crete wargame reenactment, I had the opportunity to brief the staff as the German G-2 Intelligence Officer. Additionally, I had the chance to take command of the Koch Airborne Battalion. As an intelligence officer, I learned that accurate research, proficient planning, organizing, delegating, and governing are the vital elements in executing a successful battle plan. I observed this principle as a battalion commander. When I failed to adhere to the plan due to chaotic environment, I lost valuable lives. Although I only lost a platoon of soldiers, the defeat could have been avoided had I sought the guidance of my senior officers and peers. However, I was excessively aggressive and hungry for casualties. My egotism and ignorance, however, took precedence. Consequently, I was forced to suffer from enemy fire, and lost soldiers and vital fighting forces. I am glad I learned this on the wargame table, so that I might not make the same mistake in real life.
